What do you like about Ronin Eyewear?
I like Ronin Eyewear because of its durability. The are quality sunglasses with style.  I love the fact that my shades will last me years.  Not everyone wants to buy a new pair of sunglasses every year for those who would much rather have longevity in their glasses like me.

Favorite Wave?
Angourie, Australia,  Hyuga-Miyazaki, Japan, Lighthouse and Big Rights in Hawaii.

Where have you traveled to?
Japan, Indo, Korea, Mex, USA, Oz, Germany, London, France.

Where do you want to travel to?
Anywhere with my family and friends.

What is the best advice that you have ever been given?
Dreams don’t come true by themselves. You’ve got to get off of your ass and make them come true. Practice, train and practice more!

What is the best lesson you've learned growing up?
Hard work pays off. The harder you train the luckier you get. The win happens months and weeks before the event. Winning is all about preparation with training, practice and making the right decisions.

Who inspires you and why?
Mick Fanning, Cain Velasquez, Michael Jordan, Mike Tyson, The Boston Red Sox, My Wife Cori, Jason Shibata, Gregg Nakamura and anyone that works their ass off. I really enjoy watching people who work their ass off to get to where they’re at. THAT INSPIRES ME!  Michael Jordan showed up 2 hours before every game (alone) and stayed 2 hours after every game (when everyone went home). Like he says, he worked his ass off “EVERY. SINGLE. DAY.”

What wave do you want to surf or photograph before you pass?
Perfect Lighthouse with only my family and friends.

Who is one person (living) that you want to meet before you pass and what would you ask them?
Kelly Slater. I would thank him for making surfing mainstream and giving me the opportunity to live my dreams (of being a pro surfer). If it wasn’t for him, I doubt surfing would be as bit as it is.

Who is one person (deceased) that you want to meet before you pass and what would you ask them?
JESUS CHRIST.  I would ask him what God and Heaven is like.

Who is one person that has really helped you along the way and how?
Dean Sumida. Dean really believed in me as a kid, he drove me to contests, took me surfing, helped coach me, taught me how to improve my surfing, taught me to be humble and introduced me to my best friends today. I know it’s just one person but…. I gotta mention  SHIBATZ AND ZEN.  Without these guys’ support, I wouldn’t have been able to have had surfing as a career.

What do you aspire to be in life?
Have a successful career to support my family. Be happy, healthy and to have a tight family.

If you could live anywhere else in the world than where you live now where would it be and why?
Australia because the people and waves are amazing and the weather is nice.

What do you feel is the biggest misconception about you by others?

That I didn’t work hard and that I just got lucky.

What or how do you want to remembered as?
Probably for my biggest accomplishments: winning 2 WQS events. As a kid, I never thought I’d be abel to be a professional surfer, let alone win a pro surfing event. I put a lot of sweat and tears into my training and it paid off!

What is one thing that people may not know about you?
I’m a daddy, full-time insurance agent, and enjoy going to jiujitsu (despite being as white belt as you can get).

Last words?
Thank You to all of my sponsors, family and friends who’ve supported me! It means the world to me.

Happy, successful, and a great father.

If you could live anywhere else in the world than where you live now where would it be and why?
I would like to try living in Alaska but I'm not sure for how long. It's the complete opposite from Hawaii so it would be interesting to live off the land some where cold like that.

What or how do you want to remembered as?
I hope people will remember me as some one who lived life to the fullest and had a positive impact on people I met along the way.
